WWE wrestlers John Cena, 40, and Nikki Bella, 34, have ended their relationship after six years, according to an Instagram posted by Bella on Sunday.
“While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another,” the former couple’s statement reads, according to Bella’s post. “We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives."
Bella captioned the Instagram, “We love you all.”
Cena, of West Newbury, seemed to hint at the split on social media on Monday, tweeting, “Hardship, loss, and humility are extremely difficult waters to navigate, but perseverance thru them builds a strength to withstand anything life throws your way.”
The breakup comes after a yearlong engagement. Cena, who currently stars in “Blockers,” proposed to Bella at WrestleMania 33 on April 2 of last year.
According to People, the couple planned to marry in just a few weeks, on May 5 in Mexico.
