The recent Donald Trump scandals have truly been dizzying and if you have any form of technology, you have been bombarded by news outlets every time a new one breaks.
I’ve been disgusted by Trump’s stance on a host of issues; banning refugees and Muslims, building walls, supporting the NRA. His disregard for the basic principles that define America such as religious freedoms, free press, and equality appalls me.
I didn’t think I could be any more disgusted until I heard — his very own voice! — bragging about stardom allowing him to grope women — without their consent! My frustration leveled up to outrage when he claimed, “No one respects women more than I do,” at Monday night’s debate.
It was clear before the audio leaked that Trump has zero respect for women, but to say THAT only days after this disgusting dialogue surfaced? That’s the most disrespectful thing he has ever done. If you’re going to be a pig, lay down in your own shit.
Own up to your vulgarity, Mr. Trump.
Three women have now publicly come forward saying that Trump sexually assaulted them. These women have nothing to gain and everything to lose by coming forward.
To see Trump supporters calling these women liars with “convenient timing” is unacceptable to me. No one willingly signs themselves up for hate mail and extreme vulnerability. If you think they are liars, you are part of the problem. You are contributing to victim shaming and you are making it impossibly hard for survivors of any violent crimes to come forward. And yes, what Donald Trump has been accused of is violence. It was not locker room talk. It was not flirting. It was NOT consensual and that is the basis of violence.
I’m appalled to see so many Americans defending Trump even after these allegations and I am ashamed that the courage these women have shown by finally speaking publicly about their attacks has been met with nothing but hurtful ignorance.
If I prayed, I’d be on my hands and knees for America right now.
To Trump supporters: I hope you never hurt the way these women hurt because of him.
To women: We have to stand together.
To all Americans: We have to be better.
